Rev. Chimyo Atkinson

Mountain Rain Zen invites you to participate in the second event of Celebrating the Voices of Women in Buddhism; Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Our guiding teacher Myoshin Kate McCandless is participating in and supporting this series, and on March 7 we will do a replay of the series’ second event entitled Women in Buddhist Monasticism: Women in Community. This event will be on Zoom only. LINK BELOW

Rev. Atkinson will share her journey to Japan, participating in monastic practice periods and receiving training under Shundo Aoyama Roshi. Also, Rev. Atkinson will illuminate the challenges and triumphs of women in Buddhist monasticism, drawing from her personal experiences. She emphasizes the continuous process of letting go and shares her commitment to preserving and sharing the Dharma as a teacher, offering her own experiences as guidance.

Celebrating the Voices of Women in Buddhism; Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow is a monthly, year-long speaker series sponsored by the Soto Zen Buddhist Association. It has been planned by the SZBA DEIA committee and will include Dharma talks, panels, and intimate conversation with Buddhist women and teachers.

Because many of the events conflict with Mountain Rain’s practice schedule, or may be hard to attend due to time zone differences, we will schedule replays of each session, either in-person/hybrid, or Zoom only.
