The Six Paramitas: Engaging the Practices of the Bodhisattva Path through Mind and Body

  • Mountain Rain Zendo 2016 Wall Street Vancouver, BC, V5L 1J5 Canada (map)
…. there are two approaches to studying the buddha way: to study with the mind and to study with the body. To study with mind means to study with various aspects of mind such as consciousness, emotion and intellect. To study the way with body means to study the way with your own body…
— Eihei Dogen
To study the paramitas is a process of studying the self.
— Diane Rizzetto

A source of inspiration, hope and imagination: these are only a few of the ways that have been used to describe the study of the Six Paramitas (perfections). We will explore the practice of generosity, ethics, patience, enthusiasm, concentration and wisdom both with ‘the mind’ and ‘the body’.

Study of mind will examine the intention and principles of each practice. Study of body will explore and engage felt senses as we seek to fully embody the exquisitely impossible path of the bodhisattva way.
