Our practice period theme this year will Koans of Knowing and Not-knowing, We will draw on the traditional koan literature, as well as contemporary teachings to explore how we can practice with uncertainty. The opening weekend retreat will introduce the theme, and will include dharma talks by MRZC guiding teachers, and a way-seeking mind talk by shuso (head monk) Unmon Jacob Butula.

The retreat at Wall St. zendo will be non-residential and will include the evening meal on Saturday. Participants are asked to bring a bag lunch and a cup both days. Herbal tea will be provided.

At Bright Stream Temple the retreat will be sesshin-style with oryoki meals (traditional three bowls used in Zen monasteries). To stay in-house or to commute, please contact registrar@mountainrainzen.org Once you have been accepted, the registrar will send you a link.
