Event description: This walk with local Bowen Island resident, Sangha member, and professional ecologist, Matthew Ramsay, will explore the lower Terminal Creek/Killarney Creek watershed within Crippen Regional Park with opportunities to see streams and a lagoon that support salmon spawning and hatchery production, waterfalls, wetlands, wildlife (birds and beaver dam), mature conifer forest, and riparian/floodplain ecological restoration efforts currently underway. 2.5 km one way (with 160 m elevation gain), 4 km round trip, with a potential option to take a Translink bus back to the ferry. The one-way route option will aim to conclude at Belterra Cohousing with opportunities for tea and/or bring-your-own lunch there, tour of the cohousing community’s ecological/social design features, and discussion of social structures/processes - or options to peel-off from the group to eat at local cafes and restaurants on your own from there.
Dress for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes for uneven forested trails.
