“In this life, liberate the body which is the fruit of many lives.”
Our practice period theme this year will be In This Life, In This Body: Cultivating Embodied Wisdom and Compassion with our Women Ancestors. What is it to awaken in this very body, and this very life, with all our particular characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. In spiritual practice, too often the body, and particularly the female body, is seen as something to transcend or subdue. What do our women ancestors, and some teachers who are still alive, have to teach us about living and practicing as embodied human beings?
This weekend non-residential retreat will open our 2025 practice period. It will include zazen, kinhin, dharma talks by the guiding teachers, a way-seeking mind talk by shuso (head monk) Myosen River Shannon, and dokusan with the teachers.
Please bring your own lunch both days. The evening meal on Saturday is included.
Retreat Fees:
Full weekend: $130
Saturday only: $70
Sunday only: $60
Half-fee available for those on limited income.
Dana: Dana is the Pali word for the practice of generosity. Your retreat fees go to support Mountain Rain’s capacity to offer these retreats, not to the teachers. You will have an opportunity to contribute dana to the teachers at the retreat.
