Earth Day Weekend Walking meditation

  • Burnaby Mountain Vancouver, BC Canada (map)
Walking is the great adventure, the first meditation, a practice of heartiness and soul primary to humankind. Walking is the exact balance of spirit and humility.
— Gary Snyder

Please come with your friends and family to this springtime mindful walk along the gentle footpath that borders six hundred meters of the federal government’s Trans Mountain oil storage facility. In this walk we honour the spring, its creatures (including us), and our hope that soon the facility will shrink, rather than expand, as now planned by the Trans Mountain Expansion Project.

During this morning, in walking meditation we will bear witness, with our whole being:  body, mind, heart, all of our senses.  Myoshin Kate McCandless from Mountain Rain Zen Community will offer some words of guidance, then we’ll walk in silence from the Watch House to the Trans Mountain storage facility and back, and close with a chant and talking circle.
