Training in Compassion: practices for precarious times

Times are tough. We live fast-paced lives, with considerable political, economic, and ecological upheaval, and the resultant dread, fear and stress make life difficult for almost everyone... But times have always been tough. Living a human life, in a human world, on a limited planet, has always been a daunting proposition... Compassion and connection not only feel good and right...they also turn difficulties into opportunities...
— Zoketsu Norman Fischer

Please join us, In these challenging times, as we practice with the ever-changing circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic, in exploring the Lojong practices of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. We will drawn on the warm and wise guidance of Mountain Rain’s Founding Teacher, Zoketsu Norman Fischer, in his 2012 book, Training in Compassion: Zen teachings on the practice of Lojong.

If you have the book, this would be a great time to reread it, but if not, don’t worry, the teachers’ talks will share key points. Click here for a PDF of the Lojong slogans.

Dharma seminar sessions consist of two zazen periods, an informal talk, writing reflections (bring a notebook), small/large group talking circles. Everyone welcome!  By donation.
