Ripening our practice beyond middle-age: Retirement is a relatively new phenomenon in human history, yet even in ancient times those who had the longevity, health and security, made the transition to being elders, engaged in what poet Muriel Rukeyser called “a wider giving.” In this retreat we will use our practice as a base from which to explore: Who am I beyond my family and professional roles? What is most important at this time in my life? What can I let go of? What can I open to?

The retreat will include zazen, kinhin (walking meditation), informal talks by the teachers, small and large group discussion. Please bring a bag/box lunch. Herbal tea will be provided.

Kate and Michael are Zen priests and resident teachers of the Mountain Rain Zen Community. They are entering their silver dragon years.
