Daifuku Mochi Making Workshop

  • Bright Stream temple 5505 Sherbrooke Street Vancouver, BC, V5W 3M7 Canada (map)

Have you appreciated the daifuku mochi at sesshin?  What to learn to make it?  Interested in joining a group of sangha members who make this delicious treat for sesshins?

Yumi Matsuda, who cherishes Japanese culture and traditions, will guide participants in the making of the daifuku mochi.

There are two workshop dates: June 20 and July 4.

We find working with a group of 6-8 is best, so register soon as it fills up quick! You can do so HERE - you will be asked to specify which date you'd like to attend.

You will need to bring an apron, and please note that there is an expectation you will participate in mochi making for the sangha for future sesshins.

As well as making daifuku mochi for tea at sesshin, we are making them to be available by donation for a fundraiser for the Victoria Hand Project. They make 3D limbs for amputees and build local capacity for making them. They work around the world, often in war zones, and are currently working with Palestinians in Cairo.
