Beaver dams, Human dams: a nature walk

  • Hayward Lake Stave Falls, B.C. Canada (map)

Let’s explore the power of water, flowing and dammed. We’ll visit the historic Powerhouse at Stave Falls, in Mission, at 10:00, and then check in on the beaver dams in the nearby wetland beside Hayward Lake. We’ll learn about the valuable role beavers play in ecosystems, and consider the sources of the electric power we use everyday here in BC. We may hear and see some spring bird-life, as well. Hosted by the Engaged Buddhist Practice group and led by Myoshin Kate McCandless.

Please bring a picnic lunch, and a swim suit if you’d like a lake plunge. And wear comfortable walking shoes.

Optional after-lunch walk to Steelhead Falls. An easy one-hour round-trip,

Admission to the Powerhouse museum is $8 (ages 18-54), $7 (55+), $7 (6-17)

Please note on the registration form if you have space in your vehicle for carpooling. RSVP by May 16, so we can arrange carpools and contact you if we need to reschedule due to weather.
