Two-day Residential Sesshin with Dai-i Flo Rublee

  • Bright Stream Temple 5505 Sherbrooke Street Vancouver, BC, V5W 3M7 Canada (map)
The Great Way is not difficult for those who have no preferences.
Let go of longing and aversion, and it reveals itself
— Seng-t’san

The Xin Xin Ming, sometimes translated as Faith in Mind, is a poem attributed to the 3rd Zen Patriarch Seng-t’san. It stresses having a sense of equanimity when experiencing both pleasant and unpleasant experiences.

Join Dai-i Flo Rublee for an exploration of this text and how it can support our practice in these deeply troubled times.

This two-day sesshin will consist of zazen, dharma talks, dokusan (individual meeting with the teacher) and oryoki meals (traditional Zen monk’s three bowls). It is a good introduction to sesshin (intensive Zen retreat) practice.

Dai-i Flo Rublee received lay ordination in 1998 and priest ordination in 2010 from Zoketsu Norman Fischer and dharma transmission in 2023. She was shuso for our 2008 practice period. She is a retired physiotherapist and lives in Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast.
